Meet Your therapists

Alisa Volter

Holistic Massage Therapist

  • Alisa is a holistic practitioner who believes in the healing power of intentional touch. She blends Eastern wisdom with Western techniques to create a calm, nurturing space for those seeking to reconnect with their bodies and care for their emotional wellbeing.

  • Since qualifying as a massage therapist in 2021, Alisa has continued to deepen her practice. In 2022, she travelled to Rishikesh, India, where she studied Ayurveda and traditional Ayurvedic massage. This experience brought new depth to her work and continues to guide her approach.

Alisa loves combining a clinical approach to healing with holistic and intuitive practices. She works with both physical pain and everyday aches, as well as supporting the regulation of the nervous system for those experiencing overwhelm or anxiety.

She is especially passionate about helping people facing burnout, anxiety and emotional stress. Through grounding bodywork, she invites a sense of safety, rest, and balance. Every session is held with gentle awareness, care and presence, as Alisa believes that true healing begins when we feel deeply supported.

Ciara Clarke

Wellness Practitioner

  • Ciara is a holistic wellness practitioner based in Edinburgh, Scotland, and working between there and Mayo, Ireland, she offers Reiki, sound healing, somatic head massage, and meditation. Her sessions are designed to gently reduce stress, encourage deep relaxation, and support the body’s natural ability to heal—creating a calm, nurturing space where clients can reconnect with themselves and find a sense of balance.

Her path into energy healing began in her mid-20s while seeking relief from anxiety and eczema, leading to a deeply personal transformation through Reiki and complementary therapies. As a highly sensitive and empathetic practitioner, she brings a warm, intuitive approach to her work, supporting others in releasing tension, restoring inner peace, and feeling more grounded, centred, and supported.

MEET RHONA the founder of body tonic

MEET RHONA the founder of body tonic

Originally from the Highlands of Scotland, my journey in movement began with the discipline and artistry of classical ballet. However, my aspirations in dance took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and Graves’ Disease — two rare autoimmune conditions that profoundly reshaped the course of my life.

During my recovery, I was introduced to the GYROTONIC Method. Its fluid, expansive, and integrative approach to movement resonated deeply with me. This led me to train with master teachers in New York, San Francisco, and London, eventually becoming a certified GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS trainer. In 2011, I founded Body Tonic Edinburgh — a dedicated space for mindful movement, healing, and restoration.

  • I remain committed to deepening my understanding of the body and its capacity for transformation. I regularly pursue advanced training and have had the privilege of studying under Juliu Horvath, the creator of the GYROTONIC Method. While my path has shifted from classical ballet to therapeutic movement, my passion for exploring the body's potential remains constant.

Expanding on my passion for holistic well-being, Body Tonic Edinburgh will now offer a range of complementary therapies alongside GYROTONIC sessions. These therapeutic approaches are designed to enhance the restorative benefits of movement, supporting both physical and emotional wellness. I look forward to welcoming you to Body Tonic Edinburgh soon.
